Computer Repair
Off-Site Calgary Computer Repair | $50/hour
Includes pick-up, drop off and hookup of computer. We'll make sure that it boots up and runs to your satisfaction before we leave, and we'll go through any changes with you to make sure you understand everything and are 100% satisfied.
On-Site Calgary Computer Repair | $75/hour
We'll service your computer in your home, so you're up and running the second your computer is. Same great service still applies. You'll be walked through any changes and shown, if applicable, what went wrong and how to avoid it again.
Estimates
New computer setup | 2-3 hours
Tweak your new computers performance. We'll install all critical updates and security updates that aren't on your computer. Upper end of the timeline would give enough time to install your antivirus software of choice (usually Norton) and an anti-spyware program.
Diagnosis and Repair | 2-4 hours
Computer suddenly stopped starting? Gremlins possibly nesting inside your machine? We'll find the root of your troubles and fix the problem, then, prevent the same issue from bothering you again.
*Note that some issues, such as hardware problems, can't be "repaired". We'll discuss our options if we encounter one of those.
System Tune-up | 1 hour
We'll help get your computer running in tip top shape. Optimizing your startup speed and recovering "missing" hard drive space are all included. So are critical updates for your virus and anti spyware software.

New Computer Purchase
Has your computer finally checked it's last email? We know that buying a new system can be intimidating. After all, alot has probably changed in the years since you've last bought one. We'll help figure out your needs, then research new computers with you. When you're ready to buy, we'll hook it up and get it ready to go.
We don't sell computers ourselves, so you know that there's no reason for us to pressure you one way or the other. You'll get exactally the machine you need.
We won't charge for the researching or purchase either, just for the hookup!
New Computer Build
If a top end gaming machine is your thing, or you require some customization in a computer then we can order the parts and build the machine ourselves. This allows you full control over your machine, from how much space you need to how fast you want it to go. We'll only charge for parts and the time spent putting them together, not for the time spent figuring out which parts will work best for you.
Training and Coaching
We find it funny how many computer repair companies charge extra for training and coaching. Almost like they don't want to talk to you. At jenMac, we like talking to you. So there's no charge above our normal hourly rate. Why should there be?
Tips and Tricks
Phishing
Phishing is when you are directed to a webpage that looks and feels like a page you trust (such as your bank) and are prompted to enter your personal information. These sites are setup by criminals to capture your sensitive information and use it against you. Most newer browsers have phishing filters built-in to protect you, however they must be enabled.
SpyWare
SpyWare is software that installed on your computer without your knowledge, usually hidden within games and software, that record information about you and send it back to whomever created it. These nasties track what sites you visit, your key strokes, and passwords. Spybot: Search & Destroy is a great, free program to help get rid of these. Careful, they can be stubborn.
Viruses
Gone are the days when a virus was something that usually got picked up off a floppy disk and was no more malicious than popping a message on your screen.
These days, viruses can delete everything on your computer, or turn your machine into a "zombie", directing it to become part of a "botnet" and send out massive amounts of spam or disabling websites. AVG or Norton are 2 great programs for this, although improperly configured they can drain your system resources.
Botnet
Botnets are huge groups of infected computers that the "masters" use to perform illegal activity. Whether it's sending our tons of spam or using it to infect more computers, a botnet is not something you want to be a part of. Do you really want your computer linked to something such as bringing down a banks website? Didn't think so! Updated virus software is important. Threats and methods change all the time and updates are the only way to stay on top of them.
